This device is still 18 years old, so it of course is not perfect.

It is not using AAA batteries like noraml remote, but a single rechargeable proprietary one that unfortunately has a tendency to turn into a spicy pillow…

So you might want to check that if you get one!

And also the way you charge it is you put the remote in this docking cradle thing.

Except mine… wasn’t working originally.

The reason this happened was because to charge the battery pins on the remote they have to physically touch the ones on the charging cradle.

I easily fixed this by just disassembling the cradle and slightly bending the pins and also putting some electrical tape to keep them slightly raised.

I don't know if this is the correct way to solve this problem, but that's how I did it.

But the other thing that has aged terribly is the software, because... I forgot how weird software from 2006 felt.

If you're using Windows, you don't have to worry. everything still works! And even on Windows 11, you can just download the old Logitech software and it's gonna work like plug and play.

t's perfect. If you're using Mac or Linux, then it's gonna be different.

There are some open source implementations of the Harmony software for Linux, but I'm a Mac user, I have an Apple silicon Mac, and the way I made everything work was just by simply just making a Windows 11 VM and giving it USB access. So that's how you run the software, but the software itself... let's say it is okay for 2005 standards. It has you click on a lot of buttons to do the most basic stuff.
